Auto Transport Car Preparation

Preparation is the most important in the ease and success of your auto transport. If you do not get your car shipping ready for the process it can result in problems.

Here are the easy-to-follow steps for getting your car ready for transport:

    1. Clean it up! Take the time to wash your auto thoroughly before it's picked up. This way you can notice and write down any body damage or other issues you may see with the vehicle. Spend a little time with your car so you know its condition before shipping.

    2. Clean it out! Now that you have washed your car, you will need to turn your attention to the inside of the automobile. You need to remove any objects that are still in the vehicle. You want to make sure that no objects can shift during shipping and damage the interior.

    3. Shut it off! Does your vehicle have an alarm installed? If so, you will need to disable it. You do not want the alarm to go off when the car is being shipped.

    4. Empty the Gas! We will need to make sure that you have no more than a quarter of a tank of gas when we come to pick up the car for transport.

    5. Secure the Extras! Does your car have additional accessories - like spoilers, fog lights or ground effects? You need to make sure to secure them or remove them before shipping. It is also very helpful if you can fold your vehicle's mirrors and put down the antennae. The more things you keep from sticking out of the car, the less likely something will get damaged.

    6. Secure the Rag Top! If your car is a convertible you need to assure that the top is locked down and secure. Take a quick look at your top. Do you see any open seams or holes? If so, seal them up so that moisture will not get into the interior.

    7. Look for Leaks! If you find that your vehicle is leaking fluid please let us know. This will effect where we place your car on the truck. We do not want your car to leak onto another vehicle.

    8. Tell us about it! Every car is unique. If your vehicle has any issues that could affect starting, loading or shutting it off, please make sure to mention it to the auto transport driver or leave a note taped to the window of the vehicle.

    9. Think Money! When setting your budget to move your car, keep in mind that some vehicles cost more to transport than others. A large truck or SUV can cost more than shipping a compact car. The size and the weight are issues in figuring the cost of shipping.
